Kevin & Deborah Kamalraj and their daughter Diane have been visiting the UK this week. They were invited to a wedding by their extended family (who paid for the air tickets) and so extended their stay to meet with us and visited church groups, individuals and schools that support the work they do in the slums of Chennai.
In this picture they were visiting the ancient ruins of Waverley Abbey – destroyed during Henry VIII’s reign of terror on the monasteries. It has been very interesting to share stories of the church in India and the pressure they feel from various institutions and groups in their country.
At the moment Sovereign King Mission (the church they lead in Chennai) supports 348 children in their after school homework club. This is the main focus of the child sponsorship that Grassroots supports and many of your sponsor children. the club provides a safe place after school to do homework, a meal every day, school books/equipment/uniform and a set of Christmas clothes for each child sponsored. This costs £8 per month. At the moment 125 of the children do not have sponsors. There is more information here: www.grassroots.org.uk/india
Kevin and Deborah have enjoyed sharing with groups and churches and who have been amazed by stories of how they became believers in Jesus, how God has lead them to work successfully in such a difficult place and of the many answered prayers.
