We have arrived in Chennai and it has been a full on day. After not sleeping for over 36 hours tiredness is beginning to set in. We had a fab time meeting people in the community and praying with them. The homes in the slum are very small just one room no bigger then box rooms in Uk for a whole family. Some so narrow and low that you need to bend to enter. What an honour to pray for these lovely people… how sad to hear stories of injustice and poverty. Then we left as the children at the after school were dishes up there evening meal. Just drinking tea, coffee and coke (not together) and eating toast before bed time.
Supper time for 300 + children in the Grassroots project in Chennai. This happens everyday.
Interviewing sponsored children in India today. Such friendly smiles, enthusiastic hand shakes and happy children. Such sad stories and tragedy in many of their everyday lives. What a privilege to be able to enter their world and pray with them.
Another full day of interviews. So many, too many sad stories. So many wonderful smiles. One of the team has been sketching our surroundings thought you might enjoy seeing them.
Praying with each family as they are interviewed is a vital part of what we are doing here in Chennai. The families love to be prayed for and are hungry for God to bless them.
The smile says it all…. sometimes on a trip it is possible to meet the children you personally sponsor. It is a special moment for both parties. Sponsor a child in India for £8 per month. https://www.grassroots.org.uk/sponsor-a-child-today/
The last day was Sunday, so we were in church. Wonderful jasmine garlands were presented. So grateful for the wonderful team (7 special ladies) who have given so much this week.
The next team visit to Chennai is 20-27 January 2020. Time to book your place now. https://www.grassroots.org.uk/mission-trips/
