In reverse order (take a look at the last pictures first. They show where this family was living before Grassroots started building them a home.), here are pictures of the Grassroots team in Romania this week. Some have been interviewing sponsored children (£8 per month supports a child in ways that dramatically change their experience at school, help them medically,in particular re dentistry, and connect them to a Christian network of pastoral and other support.)
Then there are the others in the team. Building a home for a very poor family. Today’s report from them reads like this:
”Our amazing volunteer building team here in Romania are doing a grand job. End of day 3 and the roof is going up and windows are in. The community, tucked away beside the river with a series of ramshackle dwellings, are so excited and cannot believe anyone would help them. But God knows where to find us … and them.
The guys are tired and working so hard. Due to reasons beyond their control 2 people had to drop out just before we left for Romania so the team is smaller then expected.
The family, who will be moving in shortly, cannot contain their excitement. Soon they will be living in a home with glass in the windows, which is watertight and with a fireplace to keep warm. Great job!”
