You Spoil us Madame Sharoni
So maybe one last entry for those of you who’ve only experienced the Mbeya-Dar leg of the trip by bus.
Yesterday started with a lie-in. Breakfast at 8:00, bags packed and out of the rooms by 9:30. Church a repeat of last week, only this time a very entertaining rendition of Zachius’s story dramatised by Sharon and Stanley.
The joys of FastJet. Quite a change from the endless bus journey.
Then – and this is where our experience may have differed slightly from yours – a very leisurely lunch and a departure for the airport around 2:45. Check in completed by about 4:00, followed by a short wait in an air conditioned departure lounge with free WiFi, and an early departure for Dar.
We were back on terra firma by 6:00, then came the ‘hard’ part of the trip when the entire team plus luggage crammed into a smallish – for our purposes – minibus and took the long way (which is short, as opposed to the short way, which is long) to Butterffly Beach, arriving for a delicious evening meal of NOT chicken, pizza, sambusa and chips around 9:00.
A pleasant night’s sleep in a cabin by the beach (lulled to sleep by the gentle sound of waves breaking on the shore) and up in time to see the sun rise around 6:00 (my choice).
This really is a lovely place to end the trip.
White sand, warm(ish) sea (as long as you don’t mind dodging the jellyfish), beautiful scenery, peace and quiet (if you can get away from certain members of the team), space (enough to get away from certain members of the team). As I say, a lovely place to end the trip.
I’m still going to need a new pair of shoes though.
