The Building team got going today. Another picture at the bottom and will post a video later. Here’s Sharon’s quick update:
Here’s a report from Jo Myall – who is with Sharon Anson visiting all the sponsored children in their homes:
“It is my first time in Romania and I have been struck by 2 things. The first is how beautiful a country it is. We are in Transylvania and the mountains are stunning with the clouds coming down into the valley. The second is the extreme poverty that exists here. It has been hard to believe that this is a country that has just joined the EU.
This morning we travelled by van (driven by Sharon) out of the town and into the villages. The roads quickly turned from tarmac into mud. The rain has been pouring since we landed and the mud is very sloppy. Pot holes are sometimes very scary, but not as scary as the bridges we had to cross on foot. They wobbled from side to side and up & down. Sharon was right when she promised me an adventure.
The families we have visited have welcomed us into their homes, but these are homes unlike any I have seen in the UK; small, cramped, damp and with very few possessions. The houses leak and people have to work hard to heat them. We have been cold and it is only September, it makes me grateful that I am not here in the middle of winter when the snow falls.
We have visited 4 families today including the girl my family sponsors. It was a delight to see her smile when we gave her and her siblings chocolate and plastacine. She sang a beautiful song to us and introduced us to her brother who is going to be sponsored.
Tomorrow will be a busy day, we are visiting 5 families with 19 children between them. Please pray that the rain would stop and that we would meet all the children we need to interview.”
