Mattresses and Mosi-Nets

24 May, 2010

P1020847Thank you once again for coming here to get the news to pray. As a team we have felt lifted on those prayers, and even though we are very tired, a new energy got into us today and gave us what we needed to take every child and every situation and bring it to the Lord.

Our first task was to take new children on to the sponsorship scheme in two areas: Nyibuko and Airport. We interviewed each child with a translator and their guardian.

After that some of the team visited the children on the scheme that we know have HIV. We arrived unannounced (as do the local Grassroots volunteers who visit each child's home to check they are being treated ok). We found some children sleeping on mud floors. Very sad and unacceptable. We will buy each one a mattress and a mosquito net.

The new multi function centre (that the team helped move bricks for on the first day) is already coming on very well. The builders are working very hard.

Then there was a visit to the market by team. There really isn't much there, but the shopaholics got their fix!

So far we have added about 150 primary children to the sponsorship scheme and will need to urgently find sponsors to support them and pray for them. There is also one more location to go where we hope to take on 30 or so more.

Tuesday & Wednesday in Mbeya... then, Thursday, we will do the 12 hour bus journey back to Dar!
