Fun Fundraising

118328876A big "Thank You" goes to a number of people who have run marathons, cycled across Britain and even staged their own Big Brother house! This makes an enormous difference to what we are able to in Tanzania.

  • London Marathon: Ashley McCormick (Liverpool) & Steve Plumb (Burton-on-Trent). Unfortunately just before the day Steve was "injured in the line of duty" (he's a police officer) and was unable to run. His sponsors, however, were very generous and continued to sponsor him.
  • June Millwood ran the British 10k in London on 11th July and raised £408. June said,”It’s great to able to do something you love doing whilst helping out a really good cause. Every step was aimed at helping one more family to survive and their children to be educated.”
  • Steve Tuppen: raised a massive £5036.50. He covered over 1,000 miles, from John O'Groats to Lands End, in 9 days. This was particularly tough as he had a bout of the runs for a couple of days.
  • St Peter’s, Sutton: a team cycled from London to Brighton.
  • Poringland Singers Concert, Norwich: raised £302 while singing to over 60 people. Marilyn & Jackie baked and donated some fabulous cakes for refreshments.
  • Steelroots Sheffield: The idea was for 7 lads (aged 16-19) to be secluded from the world for 5 days to maintain round-the-clock prayer and complete various fun challenges and tasks. Live footage from the house was streamed on their website: http://steelroots.org.uk/big-brother . So far they have raised over £2000!
