Listening to stories from Chennai's children
-
26 January, 2010
The team continued in Chennai today. It was great in the breaks just enjoying Kevin & Deborah's friendship. The interview process was harder. The children are lovely. But so many of their stories don't fits with their lovely smiles. It seems amazing that people can treat each other in the ways described today

From Tuesday:
First day in Chennai
The team have had a tiring first day in Chennai. In the slum by 10am (and 5+ hours difference).
They travelled around the slum and prayed for loads of people. Loads of people on the street were drunk. The fish factory (where many of the men work) is struggling as no fish have been caught in two months.
Then we interviewed the sponsored children. Sharon took the first shift with Kevin translating. It went very well and a real connection with the kids and their parents/guardians.
Team are doing ok. Lots of weighing, measuring and photo taking. But really tired now!
Lots more people want their children sponsored. Kevin says he would love to do it but the funds are just not there. Grassroots sponsors 60 of the 100 children already on the scheme. Wouldn't it be great if we could find sponsors for those other 40 children (£8 per month)
Debrah is looking very thin. She has been ill and is also stressed. Please pray for her.
