A brief word on why Grassroots came into existence, who the trustees are and other official stuff!
We are a Christian organisation and members of The Evangelical Alliance .
There is a team who try to keep the admin going working from their own homes. This includes Hugo & Sharon Anson, Andy Myall (on the money!) and Adrian Harvey (looking after IT).
The Grassroots Trustees are: Karen Hedges, Robert Sweatman, Rob Anderson, Stuart Boreham, Sam Corley & Pippa Ford. Others who come to these meetings are Dr Catherine Sweatman, Matthew Ford, Pete Hedges and some of the project leaders.
The Grassroots Trust was started in 1996 due to a need for a structure for the various Christian activities initiated by Hugo & Sharon Anson and by members of The Stable, High Barnet. These including various prayer events (including Walk the Walls), the child sponsorship programmes inTanzania, Kenya & India, and the Living Room ministry in Tenerife. In 2005 this widened to include many initiatives of other people that we felt the Holy Spirit was asking us to serve. These days these are many and diverse and the planning/admin of the smaller projects (eg: Malawi, 1step2step, FISCH, Speranta 4 Romania, Cyprus, etc) is done by their own steering groups.
One only person is employed by Grassroots (which Andy Myall who is the treasurer and responsible for compliance). Each person serving in a project remains part time at most and looks to the Holy Spirit to encourage others to support them in finance and prayer.
If a visiting speaker from Grassroots serves your organisation then we do not charge, but do have the expectation that expenses and staff costs will be covered by those situations that can afford to do so. In addition to this, GRASSROOTS has charitable status and can receive donations and regular giving via standing order, ˜Gift Aid" or "Give as you Earn". Information sent on request.
