Grassroots was started to create a legal charity for a number of Christian projects that ordinary people were beginning to develop. Each project, whether focussed towards people in the UK or to serve poor people overseas, was dedicated to helping people both practically and prayerfully. As well as providing for material and social needs each project works with local Christians who share about Jesus and seek to connect those they serve with the church. Some of these projects are now mature and making an enormous difference – like the work in Tanzania that supports 1900+ children and has helped start a number of local congregations. Other projects have been started more recently and are still in need of seed funding and advice – like the “Hope and Song for Freedom” team that support women who have become Christians in prison in Peru. Many of the overseas projects are built around a child sponsorship scheme; while the projects aimed at British people have prayer or evangelism at their leading edge. Some of the groups have the aim of getting strong enough to became an independent charity (like United Action For Egyptian Christians http://uafec.org ), while others are happy with the Grassroots structure – where their overheads can remain extremely low. We are very grateful for any support you can give! All donations are used where they are needed most unless designated to a specific project.
A number of people make Grassroots possible by giving their time keeping things ticking over:
Andy Myall - is responsible for all the money. he lives just outside Glasgow with Jo (his wife) and Esther & Archie (their children). All the book-keeping and accounts are done by Andy and also quite a bit of the responding to orders for alternative gifts and the like.
Adrian Harvey - is continuing to create an amazing IT base for Grassroots and others. All the database applications (that keep the sponsors up to date and keep records of the children in Tanzania, India & Kenya) were created by Adrian in his home office. From there he keeps the rest of our computers running smoothly and responds carefully to questions that start, "Can your machine...?"
Hugo & Sharon Anson - as well as administering Grassroots from their home (in partnership with the others mentioned above) they continue to serve local congregations and Christian organisations with Bible teaching and Christian training/advice. Godrant.co.uk facebook twitter

Since the early 1980s they have been involved in Christian ministry. They have always remained self employed and trusted that their needs would be supplied - serving in a number of different ways. They were part of the "Down to Earth" evangelistic team - lead by Rev Eric Delve. Sharon is an associate with "Open Air Campaigners" - who help Christians put on evangelistic events in various open air environments. Sharon has been a trustee of Spring Harvest and a member of the Council of the Evangelical Alliance. She was also an extension evangelist with Billy Graham's "Mission 89" in London. Together with Hugo they restarted a local Christian congregation in Barnet (The Stable) in 1990 and then Grassroots in 1996. As well as the overseas ministries of Grassroots, they also initiated "Walk the Walls" (a prayer walk around London each year from 1997 to 2003) which lead on to helping a number of Christian events (including SOULINTHECITY London) organise prayer programmes.
Hugo & Sharon have written one book on the subject of Infertility & childlessness: "Some Mothers do Have 'em... Others Don't". This can be bought from the shop.
